Winter 2015 Project Recap

Buh bye, winter.  I'm not gonna miss ya.  Please please tell me it's not coming back.  We had sunny 60 degree weather here in the Carolinas yesterday, and it was glorious.  If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen us enjoying the sunshine with some feathery friends.

Since a lot of new followers are here now and as I'm currently working on the next project up my sleeve, I thought it would be nice to take a little stroll down memory lane from the past three months since the beginning of winter.

1 Year Blogiversary Progress House Tour

Right before pulling out all of our Christmas decorations, as we celebrated the 1 year anniversary of moving into our house, we documented all of our progress.  It was neat to see the huge transition!

Beginnings of an Entryway: Restoring a Reclaimed Wagon Bench

I scored a really old wagon bench on Craigslist for $35 that needed a little loving.  I restored the dry, brittle wood on my bench using just one ingredient from my kitchen.

My husband is like a little kid when it comes to Christmas decorating, so this was his favorite post, of course.

As much as I love Christmas, I don't like spending hundreds on decorations that will only be seen one month out of the year.  I shared lots of ways on how we decorated most of our house for totally free.

We had some old orange chairs we always pulled out when we had lots of guests over, and I always cringed at the sight of them.  I gave them a quick and easy makeover to freshen them up.

To make our hallway more functional alongside our entry wagon bench, I whipped up this hook rack as a catch-all for our winter gear like scarves and hats.

In celebration of getting rid of all of our builder grade light fixtures, I shared all of the ways I DIYed our industrial style lighting for really cheap.

I wrote out our list of goals to accomplish this year for DIY projects.  I looked back over it, and we've already crossed off a lot of our tasks!  Yay!

I took a moment on New Year's Eve to reflect on 2014 and keep what's important in life in focus.  A lot of you told me you had the same goals for this year too.

DIY Weathered Wood Pantry Crates for Cheap

Who knew diaper boxes could end up so cute?  This was most definitely my favorite trash to treasure project.

I have loved how functional our newly organized pantry has become.  I swear I can think clearer just walking in here.  And grocery shopping is much easier now that I have my inventory printable hanging on our wall clipboard.

I don't know if I'll ever use store-bought stain again.  I'm hooked on this staining method using ingredients from our kitchen.  It's dirt cheap and clean up is a breeze!

We furnished almost our entire house for just over $1,000!  I spilled all kinds of tricks I used to score the best deals.

Our FREE wall decor turned out so cute.  I'm tempted to swipe another window from my in-laws' barn now.

Our plank wall completely transformed our bathroom into an oasis.  Bubble baths are way more luxurious with that beauty above the bathtub.

Robert has already said he's excited to do this method on other windows in our house.  It was so simple and made a huge impact.

Can you even believe I found this brand new pendant light in Goodwill?  It works perfectly to replace are builder grade light that was so not our style.

February

I like to get real when I learn from my mistakes in DIYs.  I learned some hard lessons in painting our shower door, but I shared how I solved the problems.

This cheapo project made picking out my jewelry so much easier and it makes funky wall decor. Double duty!

I had never painted cabinets before, but after my experience with these, I'm excited to tackle more!  Adding label pulls made our drawers even more functional too.

I got an overwhelming response from fellow blogger friends on this post, and I was so glad to help others on their own journey to improve their photography.  It's a journey that never ends, but it's so much fun!

Restyling a Bookcase: Less is More

I took a minimalist approach to declutter our living room shelves, and I shared a few stories about our sentimental decor items.

I thought this post would NEVER come!  It was so worth it to see our hard work pay off.

At the request of a lot of blogger friends wanting to improve their photography editing, I compared Lightroom to Picmonkey with a full beginner's guide to making the switch.

This project turned out so funky and unique that I was on the fence of keeping it.  But so many of you told me you loved it that I think I'll have to find a special place for it somewhere in our house.

Whew!  I'm really amazed how much we've accomplished.  Did you have a favorite from this winter?  Were there any projects you're super proud of knocking out yourself too?  Are there any projects/posts you'd like to see here in the future?  I always appreciate y'all's input.

Blessings,
